American Cultures Class explores Ball of Confusion
Mrs. Elizabeth Hershey’s American Cultures class videoconferenced on Jan 12 with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their videoconference “Ball of Confusion” examined social conflict in the 1960’s and 1970’s as expressed through music. The hour presentation included footage from Woodstock and artifacts from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Students interpreted song lyrics and asked questions of the presenter about music from the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s.
Many of my students had not video conferenced before this experience and only two of my students have been to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. It was an extremely successful session where students were able to continue their music analysis of the turbulent 60s and 70s and relay historical events to the music of the time period. Different styles of music were analyzed and student participation was tremendous. Our presenter was enthusiastic about her job and relayed pertinent video clips and music lyrics. All in all this was an awesome presentation!
