Hempfield High School Sponsors Graffiti Competition

The Hempfield High School National Art Honor Society sponsored their 1st annual Graffiti Competition dubbed SubURBAN BURN on May 1st. Students were required to submit applications detailing what their proposed images would be. Those accepted were given a 60″ x 120″ piece of Tyvek to execute their design along with 8 cans of Montana brand spray paint and tips.  The event took place in the outdoor courtyard to the rear of the high school, adjacent to the cafeteria and the art studios.  Students had 90 minutes to complete their piece. Children and youth were able to participate in some spontaneous tagging on large pieces of Tyvek as the “contestants” were creating their designs.  The Hempfield business partners through Market Street Sports helped fund the event.
